HMT Loch Inver was originally built for the Loch Fishing Co. Ltd. of Hull by Cook, Welton and Gemmell Ltd. of Beverley and was launched on 15 January 1930.

She was requisitioned for war service by the Royal Navy in October 1939, becoming HMT Lock Inver. Believed to be torpedod on the night of the 22nd of September 1940 while working as minesweeper by the Kriegsmarine E-boat S13.

Cook, Welton & Gemmell was a shipbuilders based in Hull and Beverley, England. Founded in 1883 they built trawlers and other small ships.
